As the week progresses, Bruce hears the prayers of millions of people in his head. God explains these are prayers he must now handle. Overwhelmed, Bruce creates an email system and, in an attempt to manage the volume, sets it to automatically answer every prayer with "Yes". This decision leads to chaos: everyone wins the lottery but only gets $17, leading to city-wide rioting, and multiple meteor strikes cause many to believe the Apocalypse is imminent. Meanwhile, his personal life falls apart when his girlfriend, Grace, leaves him after seeing him being kissed by his co-anchor, Susan Ortega. Bruce soon realizes his powers cannot influence Grace's free will and that his selfish actions have brought his city to the brink of disaster. After a heartfelt confession to God, he renounces his powers and returns to his simple life as a field reporter, having learned the value of focusing on others rather than his own selfish desires.
